Subproject A03 Powder forming processes

In this subproject, an XHV-adequate powder processing route will be established to investigate the effects of oxygen reduction and extraction within the powder metallurgical and metal forming process of oxygen-affine powders. Due to the oxygen affinity and the high property sensitivity depending on the oxygen content, titanium aluminide powders will be examined. In addition to classical die powder pressing with subsequent sintering and hot isostatic pressing, a novel process combination including powder metallurgy and metal forming with deoxidized titanium aluminide powder will be investigated.
